Botox Injections for Eyelid Lift and Browlift

Lateral eyebrow lifts are usually treated surgically with various types of temporal or brow lifts. The severity of brow lift surgery often makes these procedures invasive and beyond the limits of the outpatient cosmetic surgery experience.

Options for temporal lift have been used successfully to improve the lateral brow lift and these procedures provide a better option than the direct brow lift advocated by some surgeons.

The Easy-Lift is a temporal browlift procedure that can be performed in an outpatient surgical setting and provides for a less-invasive option when compared to a traditional browlift. Dr. Raed Rtail has modified the temporal brow lift to achieve longlasting results with minimal risk.

In terms of a non-surgical option, Botox has been proposed to lift the lateral tail of the eyelids. This study examined the anatomic basis for Botulinum muscle relaxant benefits for lateral elevation of the brows and eye opening. The authors used a cadaveric model to locate the edge of the superolateral orbital rim and the lateral superior part of the orbicularis muscle. One unit of intradermal injection of letibotulinum muscle relaxant was then evaluated on a female candidate. The results revealed an improvement in eye-opening and eyebrow elevation. The anatomical specificity of the lateral orbital rim contributes to the efficacy of the treatment.

We use this Botox technique for a lateral brow lift in patients seeking increased eye opening in the setting of excessive squinting or dermatochalasia. The low risk and improved aesthetics enhances the results of Botox injections to the upper face.
